The legal constitutional protection against government. Although our civil liberties are formally set down in the Bill of Rights, the courts, police, and legislatures define their meaning.
What are the 1st amendment freedoms?
Freedom of religion, speech, assembly and petition
What is the meaning of “wall of separation”?
Putting a wall in in between church and state. Forbidding a church sponsored by or favored by the government
What is the free exercise clause?
A first amendment provision that prohibits government from interfering with the practice of religion.
What does the 4th amendment protect against?
Citizens are protected from unreasonable searches and seizures and have the exclusionary rule (the rule that evidence, no matter how incriminating, cannot be used in trial if not obtained legally)
