Q

What is the Cell Theory?

A
  1. All living things are composed of one or more cells.
  2. Cells are the smallest living things.
  3. New cells come from only pre-existing cells by cell division.

Q

What are the stages of Interphase?

A
  1. G1- Gap 1 or Growth 1. All parts of the cell except the nucleus is duplicated. Eg: Mitochondria, Golgi Bodies, ER
  2. S - The DNA is in the form of chromatin. The chromatin is duplicated.
  3. G2 - Gap 2 or Growth 2. The cell checks the duplicated chromosomes for errors and corrects it if they find any.

Q

What happens in prophase?

A
  • The chromatin condenses in to a chromatid. They are held together by a centromere.
  • The centrosomes move to the opposite poles of the cell.
  • Nucleolus disappears and nuclear membrane starts to break down.
