Chapter 4 Flashcards
Congruent angles
Angles that have the same measure (4.1)
Measure of an angle
The real number that corresponds to a particular angle (4.1)
Adjacent angles
Two coplanar angles that have a common side and a common vertex, but no common interior points (4.3)
Angle bisector
Is a ray that(except for its origin) is in the interior of an angle and forms congruent adjacent lines (4.3)
Perpendicular lines
Lines that intersect to form right angles (4.3)
Linear pair
A pair of adjacent whose noncommon sides form a straight angle (are opposite rays) [4.4]
Vertical angles
Are angles adjacent to the same angle and forming linear pairs with it (4.4)
Two angles are COMPLEMENTARY if:
The sum equals 90° (4.4)
Two angle are SUPPLEMENTARY if:
The sum equals 180° (4.4)
Acute triangle
A triangle with three acute angles (4.4)
Right triangle
A triangle with a right angle (4.4)
Obtuse triangle
A triangle with an obtuse angle (4.4)
Scalene triangle
A triangle with no congruent sides (4.4)
Isosceles triangle
A triangle with two congruent sides (4.4)
Equilateral triangle
A triangle with all the sides congruent (4.4)
