Chapter 33 Flashcards
What is a disease caused by nematodes?
hookworms (“vampire” worms in pets), heartworms (in pets; spread by mosquitos), trichinosis (humans; undercooked pork or wild game).
What are a few traits that make arthropods so successful?
Jointed appendages, exoskeleton, walking legs, swimming appendages, claws, etc.
Compare complete and incomplete metamorphosis
Incomplete: young (nymphs) are similar to the adults but smaller with different body proportions.
Complete: larva looks very different than adult
How do echinoderms use their tube feet?
The tube feet are part of a water vascular system. They extend the feet, grasp onto a surface by adhering to it using chemicals, and release. This is how they use them for locomotion. They also use them to capture prey.
