What is Narration?

A

It is the oldest and best known form of verbal communication. It is, quite simply, the telling of a story.

A good story is almost always told to make a point.

An example of bad narration would be someone talking on and on without making a point. Adding excess details that are unnecessary.

What are the steps for writing a narrative paragraph?

A
  1. Study the given topic, then plan your topic sentence with its controlling idea.
  2. List the events that come to mind when you think about the topic you have chosen.
  3. Choose the five or six most important events from your list.
  4. Out your final list in order.
  5. Write at least one complete sentence for each of the events you have chosen from your list.
  6. Write a concluding statement that gives some point to the events of the story.
  7. Finally, copy your sentence into standard paragraph form.
