What is a scatterplot?
A scatterplot is a graph that depicts the relation between two scale variables. Each mark indicates the intersection of the two scores.
A scatterplot shows a relation between two scale variable. What are the two types of relations?
Linear and Non-Linear
What is linear relation?
A linear relationship is described by a straight line between two variables. When relationship is positive, the pattern of data flows upward to the right. When the relationship is negative, the pattern of data flows downward and to the right. Both are described by a straight line.
What is a non-linear relation?
A non-linear relation is described by a line that breaks or curves in some way between two variables.
What is a line graph?
A line graph depicts relationship between two scale variables over time.
What is a bar graph?
A bar graph is a visual depiction of data when the independent variable is nominal and the dependent variable is scale. Each bar represents the average value of the dependent value for each category.
x-axis is discrete; y-axis is scale
What is a Pareto Chart?
A Pareto chart is bar graph in which the bars are ordered from the tallest to the shortest, highest on the left, lowest on the right. This allows for easy comparison
