Chapter 15- Nonparametric Tests Flashcards
What are non parametric tests?
Nonparametric tests are tests used when the assumptions are not met. 1) we have a nominal/ordinal DV (no scale DV) 2) small sample and potentially skewed pop distribution
What is a CHI Square Test for Goodness of fit?
Chi test for goodness of fit that involves one nominal variable and NO independent/dependent variable
What is a CHI Square Test for Independence?
Chi test for Independence involves 2 nominal variables. Test looks at whether variables are independent of or dependent
What is a Spearmann Rank-Order Correlation Coeffiecient?
Test looks at the association between tow ordinal variables
What is the Mann-Whitney U Test?
MWU test is equivalent of t test. Comparing 2 groups in a between groups design when the DV is ordinal
