carries out the laws - President
judicial branch
interprets the laws and punishes lawbreakers - Court
checks and balances
prevents any branch from having too much power
veto
refusal to sign a bill into law
judicial review
Supreme Court’s power to tell if a law is correct by the Constitution
amendment
a written change to the Constitution - must have 3/4 approval
