Q

Explain how bandwidth affects the shape of our radar pulse and what effect this has on performance

A

Determines rise time and pulse duration.

A high bandwidth will give a short sharp pulse which will improve radar resolution and shorten minimum range.

Q

Explain difference between linear and log amps.

A

Linear
- Constant gain
- Saturation level that can affect video signal
- Helps to give max detection ranges in good weather conditions
- 1mv = 2v

Log
- output amplitude is proportional to log of input signal
- 100 mw = 2v
