What are common nouns?
They are nouns that utter the name of one or more members of a large class of things. (door, gin, lake)
What are proper nouns
Proper nouns name a specific person, place, or thing.
What are collective nouns?
They are nouns that give names to groups of things or people.
(galaxy, tribe, flock)
What are concrete nouns?
They name an object that is perceivable by the senses.
glove, phone, spoon
What are abstract nouns?
Nouns that name a quality or idea.
havoc, dismay, ethics
In what ways can a noun be used?
As the subject of a sentence, as the complement of a verb, as an object of a preposition, as an appositive, and in a direct address.
What is an appositive?
An appositive further identifies another noun.
What is a direct address?
A noun that names the person being spoken to.
