What are the consequences of low self-esteem?

What is disordered eating?
When a person regularly engages in abnormal eating patterns, despite not having food intolerance or health problems
What is eating disorder?
A serious mental and physical illness where someone has disturbed eating habits, which can include over-eating, not eating enough, or purging after eating in the from of extreme exercise or vomiting
Strategies to address disordered eating?
- Intuitive eating: eating when you are hungry & stopping when you are full
- Mindful eating: eating slowly, focus on what you are eating - helping no to over or under eat
- Managing emotions: not eating because you are bored, sad, angry, anxious - focus on eating to nourish
What is food shaming?
Negative food talk directed at yourself or others, leading to a bad relationship with food
What is Clean eating?
A way of eating where the goal is to improve health and well-being by eating foods like fruit, vegetables and lean proteins that have not been processed
What is Orthorexia nervosa?
An obsession with healthy “clean” eating
What is caloric restriction?
The total volume of food consumed is reduced
Strategies to deal with a poor body image?
- Look beyond the exterior - true inner beauty
- Compliment yourself daily
- Do something daily to that makes you feel good
- Appreciate your body
- Unfollow unrealistic social media feeds
Strategies to overcome mental health issues?
- Keep active & develop healthy eating habits
- Get enough sleep
- Avoid drugs & alcohol
- Deal with your emotions do not suppress
- Seek professional help if necessary
