What does the ear canal do to prevent a disease ?
It is lined with wax which traps pathogens
How does the stomach prevent diseases?
It uses hydrochloric acid to kill the bacteria that is invested in food and drinks.
How does the vagina prevent disease?
It maintains acidic conditions to protect against micro-organism invasion
What does blood clotting do?
Stops the loss of blood and prevents the entry of pathogens through the wound
How does the skin block diseases?
The tough physical barrier that repels water and tends to be dry, in both these conditions pathogens do not thrive. It also produces pep tides
What does mucus do to help prevent diseases?
Traps any pathogen in the air. The mucus and pathogen are both moved to the trachea by the cilia and enters the stomach to be destroyed
How does urine help prevent diseases?
The flushing action of weeing mechanically ejects pathogens
What are the cilia?
Ting hair like organelles that line the respiratory tract and sweep away other matter.
