What is Malaria ?
Malaria is caused by a female mosquito bite. These bites are infected with a protist parasite called PLASMODIUM
How is Rabies spread ?
Through animal bites
How do you prevent Salmonella ?
Cook food for the correct time and temperature.
Why does having harmless bacteria in your body protect against diseases?
Because the body can produce the correct antibodies to fight other diseases
How do you prevent HIV ?
Safe sex
How do you prevent Cholera?
Drink clean water
How to prevent tetanus ?
Clean wounds and disinfect them correctly
How does influenza spread ?
It is air borne. That means that you can catch it through the air you breathe
List the other ways in which you can develop HIV ?
Mother to child, through birth
Through infected needles and drug spoons
Unsafe sex
What are Rose Black spots?
It causes black or purple spots to develop on the leaves. The leaves often turn yellow and drop early
How do you prevent Rose Black spots?
Remove and burn leaves and roots
Spray with chemical fungicides
Some specially bred plants are resistant
How is Rose Black spots spread ?
The spores of fungi are spread through the wind. The spores stay dormant over winter on dead Rose leaves or roots
What is an Epidemic?
A wide spread occurrence of an infectious disease in a wide community
Swine flu is carried by pigs. Bird flu is carried by birds. Suggest a reason why bird flu will spread easier
Birds can fly from country to country. They carry the flu and therefor spread it
