Q

3.1.12.1 Pilot Maintenance Authorisation

To conduct Pilot Maintenance a Flight Crew member must also carry a CAM-2051 Pilot Maintenance Authorisation.
If you dont have a current certification what is required ?

A

A Flight Crew member without a current Pilot Maintenance Authorisation **must inform the other operating Flight Crew **to ensure at least one crew member can conduct Pilot Maintenance procedures if required.

3.2.2.2 Landing – Meteorological Minima

The Captain should fly the approach if the reported ceiling is within ?

A

200 ft of the MDA/DA or the reported visibility is within 2,000 m on the minimum required. This does not preclude the Captain from allowing the FO to remain as PF if the conditions deteriorate
during the approach.

3.2.2.3 Landing – Approach Ban

Where an aerodrome has both an Air Traffic Service and RVR is reported, Flight Crew shall not continue descent below 1000 ft AAL where ?

A

The TDZ RVR is reported by ATC as continually less than the landing minima for the IAP

Q

3.2.2.8 New Captain Consolidation Requirements

Before allowing a First Officer to commence or continue an approach and landing, the PIC must consider the following (5) operating and environmental threats: ?

A
  • Runway length available and conditions
  • Aircraft serviceability
  • Type of instrument approach available
  • Approach Procedure criteria
  • Weather (i.e. rain, slush, snow)

3.3.2.1 Aerodrome Categories

Network Aviation adopts a system where aerodromes are classified according to the complexity of local operations. Least demanding aerodromes are classified Category A, B, and C.

What is the typical criteria that is considered in determining each airport category ?

A

Category A
Minimum requirements for Category A classification include:
* Published instrument approaches available for a minimum of 2 company approved runways (includes reciprocal ends of the same runway complex).
* Night operations capability.
* No characteristics that warrant classification as Category B or C.
Note: Application of RTOW performance limitations for take-off and landing is standard practice in Company operations and is not a requirement for classification as Category B or C.

Category B
Characteristics that warrant classification as Category B include, but are not limited to:
* Unusual local weather conditions
* EOP (F100) / OCP (A319/A320) with bank angles greater than 15°.
* Non-standard instrument approach patterns / profiles

Category C
Characteristics that warrant classification as Category C include, but are not limited to:
* Approach angles greater than 3.3°;
* Complex airspace requiring special departure / arrival considerations;
* High terrain requiring additional company risk mitigations over and above published instrument approach and landing procedures.

3.4 Competency and Recent Experience

A Flight Crew member shall not operate a Company aircraft in Air Transport Operations, unless they satisfy the following recency requirements ?

A

3 take-offs and
landings as PF in the previous 90 days

Note 1: For the purpose of satisfying the requirements of CASR 121.540, these takeoff and landings must be flown with the autopilot disengaged, to/from 500ft.
Note 2: For the purpose of satisfying the requirements of CASR 121.540 this may be conducted in an approved Simulator.

3.5.5 Required Technical Knowledge

From a Required Technical Knowledge perspective a Flight Crew member should be able to (8 items) ?

A
  • Describe the basic architecture of all systems in the aircraft – that is, the significant components and their relationship to each other sufficient to support normal and abnormal operation and the conduct of abnormal checklists;
  • Recall the function of any switch or control on the Flight Deck and how that switch or control interacts with its associated aircraft system, to the extent that it can be controlled by the Flight Crew;
  • Recall the meaning of all annunciations and caution/warning lights;
  • Promptly and correctly verbalise and conduct recall (memory) items in the correct sequence immediately an abnormal situation in recognised;
  • Recognise normal and abnormal system operation;
  • Understand the operation of systems to support the conduct of normal and abnormal checklists;
  • Be able to provide accurate and complete information of abnormal system operation when writing-up defects; and
  • Be able to locate relevant technical information in Company documentation, when required.
