A blog or web log is a website where an individual or group of users posts information and/or opinions on a regular basis.
What is the definition of a microblog?
Microblogging is a further form of blogging using very short posts (eg. Twitter).

- More efficient as less staff interaction is needed
- Financial benefits as it’s a paper free approach

Benefits to members:
- Communicate at convenient times for them (24/7)
- Saves time as no need to queue (phones etc)

- Keeps existing members updated with information
- Members can ‘like’ and ‘share’ (cheap advertising)
- Prospective members can be informed of deals
What are the uses of Twitter for PL?
- Use short messages to inform members
- Can link on their website to follow them on twitter
- Can be shared to encourage more people to join
