Macronutrients
Nutrients that are required in large amounts
Micronutrients
Nutrients that are required in small amounts
Soft tissue
Organs and tissue that support, connect or surround other structures. E.g skin,muscle, tendons, ligaments, collagen and organs.
Anaemia
A condition that’s makes a person unable to carry oxygen around the body due to lack of healthy blood cells
Kilojoules
A unit of measuring energy intake or expenditure
Osteoporosis
A contrition characterised by a reduction in bone mass that makes bones more likely to break and fracture
Fortified
Having a nutrient artificially added to increase nutritional value.
Collagen
Fibrous protein found in connective tissue that is the main consent of cartilage, ligaments, tendons, bones and skin
Colesterol
A type of fat required in for optimal functioning of the body that is in excess can lead to a rage of health conditions including blocking of arteries.
Amino acids
A simple organic compound made up of amino and carboxly.
Atherosclerosis
A build up of plague on blood vessel walls, this makes it harder for blood to pass through
Behavioural determinate
The actions or partners of living as an individual or group that effects your health.
Physical environment
The physical surrounding in which we work, live and play.
Resilience
Refers to a person ability to cope with stressful and difficult situations, and to recover after misfortune
