The social structure of the 18th century colonies was growing more open for some but not for others. Consider this statement with respect to men and women, whites and blacks, poor and rich.
The social structure were growing more open for white rich men but not poor people or women. Women were demoted to being good wives and mothers. Women’s work was specifically to cooking, cleaning, sewing, and making butter. The rich viewed the poor as lazy, shiftless, and responsible for ending up poor. Them and their children were sent to do labor in warehouses.
If you traveled from New England to the south, how would you describe the diversity you saw between the different colonies.
I would describe the diversity in New England and south as very different to a certain extent. They were kind of alike with the American colonies trying to replicate their style. They were different when it came to how their colonies were. In New England they relied on trading systems and family worked on the farms. In the south, they relied on slaves too grow their plants and to do labor on the farms
