the automobile became more affordable, so more people were able to own cars. this way people could travel around quicker and easier. america’s economy also increased. people could find jobs making steel for the bodies of the car, rubber for tires, and glass for windows. roads were also fixed for safety.
how did american culture change during the 1920s?
people from small towns and farm started to move to northern cities. a large number of african americans also moved from the south to the north for more jobs. along with them, they brought their culture. this led the jazz music, art, and novels.
where did jazz music originate, and what musical styles influenced it?
jazz music originated in new orleans. it is a blend of spirituals, european harmonies, and west african rhythms
how were artists of the harlem renaissance and the lost generation similar and different?
similarities: they both involved writers and a blend of cultures
differences: the harlem renaissance was mostly about african americans showing pride in their culture. the lost generation was mostly focused on their disillusionment of the american society during the 1920s.
how did women in the 1920s express their independence?
women expressed their independence by going out more and dressing differently. they did not dress or behave in their traditional ways that people expected them to do. they began to get better jobs and a better education. some women from small towns and farms even moved to big northern cities on their own.
why were new immigration laws passed in the 1920s?
immigration laws were passed due to a thought of the sacco and vanzetti trial being influenced by a fear of immigrants. some people were even worried that poor immigrants would take their places at work.
what cultural conflict did the scopes trial represent?
it showed the disagreements between traditional and modern views during the 1920s.
