what risks did miners face?

A

work was usually dangerous in the mines. some equipment wasn’t safe, such as the elevators. i don’t think they were sturdy enough to carry many people. since they worked in tunnels, the air was filled with dirt and it was hot and stuffy. the dusty air caused lung disease. eventually there were injuries and deaths due to explosions in mines.
