Q

What is an electric charge?

A

The intrinsic property of particles that cannot be created or destroyed is the factor that impacts the strength of the electric force.

Q

What is the MAIN differences between insulators and conductors?

A

The electrons of the insulator are held tighter than the electrons of the conductor as a result insulators are not able to conduct electricity.

Q

What is Coulomb’s Law?

A

The law that Coulomb created using the torsion balance from Cavendish’s experiment when he was finding the gravitational constant and established that the force is proportional to the charges of the particles and is inversely proportional to the distance between the charges.

Q

What does the superposition of electric forces mean?

A

In order to find the direction of the electric force, the vectors of the forces must be added - by tip to tail or parallelogram.

Q

What is grounding?

A

Connecting an object to the ground removing the excess charges from the object and sends it to the Earth. This occurs with wires that have a strong current any large buildup can be problematic so grounding the wires removes the charges.
