Chapter 19 Flashcards
1
Q
What is the specific heat capacity?
A
This is the amount of energy that is required of a material to increase its temperature.
2
Q
Why does converting to Kelvin not matter here?
A
The size of the change in temperature is 1c which is the same as 1K so as long as its a temperature difference not a temperature at a specific point then converting is not necessary.
3
Q
What is the heat of fusion?
A
This is the heat energy needed per unit mass to cause a material of mass to melt or freeze.
4
Q
What is the heat of vaporization?
A
The heat energy needed per unit mass to cause a material to vaporize or condense.
