“a snarling, snatching sound, almost like a dog quarrelling”

“You will sponge the blood… you will put the glass of water on that stand to his lips… you will not speak to him on any pretext” - demanding. she doesn’t protest.
While she is with Mr Mason in silence, what does Jane hear occasionally?
“a step creak, a momentary renewal of the snarling, canine noise, and a deep human groan”
When Rochester comes back, what does Mr Mason say?
“She bit me… she worried me like a tigress”

“No - a mere scratch. Don’t be so overcome, man: bear up!” “have some energy, man”
