What is a simple meter?
A meter where beats divide evenly into twos.
Meter Groupings
duple, triple, quadruple
Duple Meter
Beats group into twos, (e.g. 2/4)
Triple Meter
Beats group into threes, (e.g. 3/4)
Quadruple Meter
Beats group into fours, (e.g. 4/4)
Time signature
Upper number is # of beats in the measure. Lower number is the beat unit.

A temporary duple rhythmic grouping in the context of an underlying triple meter.

The metric organization of a song considering measures, instead of beats.
