Regulatory Signs
tells you about laws that you must obey–white
Examples of regulatory signs
stop, yield, speed limit, control parking and passing, direct traffic flow
Warning signs
alerts you of hazards–yellow
Examples of warning signs
diamond shaped warns of danger, school, no-passing, construction, railroads
Guide Signs
mark routes, intersections, service areas, other points of interest–red, white, and blue shields
International Signs
convey info with symbols rather than words
traffic signal
Traffic lights, arrows, flashing signals, lane signals, and pedestrian signals are used to help traffic flow smoothly
right-turn on red
is legal, but must come to a complete stop first
flashing signal
alerts you to dangerous conditions or tells you to stop
lane signal
lights with arrows tell you which arrows pointing downward tells you which lanes you can use
