MORPHEME

A

The minimal unit of meaning. The smallest unit of language that carries semantic interpretation.

  • Can be stems, endings for plurals and verb tenses, suffixes and prefixes.
  • Each word has 1 morpheme.
  • Morphemes do not have to be words, they can be “ing”, “ed”, and the plural s.
