The Nuremberg Code, Federal protection Regulations- the Belmont report, and APA ethical guidelines
What are some institutional guidelines, protections, and safeguards?
Institutional Review Board (IRB), informed consent, debriefing, risks/costs vs. benefits analysis, anonymity and confidentiality, the issue of deception, and freedom to end participation without penalty
According to the APA, who is considered a child versus an adult?
18 years and older
What is the issue with having children as participants?
The primary issue is whether children are truly able to give informed consent and exercise all the other right of human research participants (applies to other populations)
