Q

What is newtons first law ?

A

Q

How do you carry out the experiment to investigate newtons first law ?

A

1 - set the linear air track is on flat surface and level
2- measure the length of the interrupt card
3- connect the light gates so they measure the velocity between the two points
4- give the glider a gentle push so it passes through
5-The velocity does not change between the two gates

Q

What is terminal velocity ?

A

The maximum velocity a body can reach

17
Q

What does terminal velocity depend on ?

A

The shape of the object.

18
Q

What happens when a body is thrown vertically upwards ?

A

it’s motion is opposed by the force of gravity. Its velocity will decrease by 10m/s until its vertical velocity is 0.

19
Q

What is negative acceleration often called ?

A

deceleration or retardation.
