What is CPR
CPR is an emergency helps involves the combination of chest compression and breathing into the mouth of victim to restore the victim’s heartbeat and breathing
What does CPR stands for
Cadiopulmonary resuscitation
what are the situations of infividual that needs CPR
- does not respond to stimulus
- does not breathe
- does not have a heartbeat or a pulse
CPR procedure
1) check the victim’s response by patting the shoulder and ask “are you okay?” if no response, contact 999
2) make sure the victim is lying on his back. tilt the victim’s head back and lift his chin to open the airway
3) do chest compression. press down about 5cm at the rate of 100 - 120 pressures per min
4) pinch the victim;s nose and blow into his mouth
5) 30 chest compressions followed by 2 mouth-to mouth resuscitation repeatedly
an emergency aid use to rescue an individual who is choking
Heimlich manoeuvre
signs of choking
- holding neck with both hands
- difficulty in breathing
- unable to speak/cough
- lips, skin and nails appear bluish or blackish
What is choking
choking occurs when there is a foreign object for example food or small object that blocks the airway (trachea)
procedure of heimlich manoeuvre
1) stand behind the citim and bend the victim’s body slightly foward
2) put the arm around the victim from behind and clench a fist with the right hand
3) place ur right fist under the victim’s rib cage. place the left hand on top of your right fist
4) press and jerk upwards hard and fast. repeat this step
