What is Bacon Rebellion ?

A

Nathaniel Bacon hated Indians and created his own group of army men to fight the native Americans. He conquered Jamestown in 1676 but raised issues about the lack of taxation without representation in the House of Burgesses. But soon after conquering , Bacon dies and Gov. Berkeley was able to restore peace to the town.

Who and where was the 2nd attempt at a settlement in the New World ?

A

Plymouth, Massachusetts . Puritans, separatists and pilgrims moved there. The people who setup Plymouth are religious if you don’t like their beliefs you can leave (separatists).

A

Who is Roger Williams ?

A

(Extreme Seperatists) Declared that English settlers had no right to claim land unless purchased by native Americans . Because of this the general court tried to deport but fled , purchased land from Indians and created providence, RI and guaranteed separation of church and state and religious freedom.

A

She said that worshipers didn’t need the church or ministers to interpret the bible . In 1638 she was banished and moved to Rhode Island.

What is a Proprietary Colony ?

A

One person is the owner/operator of the colony . Example (Pennsylvania , William Penn Quakers. The king owed his family a lot of money so he gave him that land in a New World , he setup as a safe haven for Quakers and they were tolerant of other Religious Beliefs.
