Q

function of Golgi apparatus

A
  1. chemically modify substances made by the endoplasmic reticulums
  2. packages modified substances in vescicles for secretion of cell

Q

how do substances get secreted out of the cell?

A
  1. small vesicles containing substances made by ERs pinched off ERs
  2. vesicles fuse with GA = release their contents
  3. GA modifies/repackages substances into secretory vesicles
  4. secretory vesicles pinch off from GA = move to CSM
  5. secretory vesicles fuse with CSM = release contents out of cell

Q

how are plant and animal cells different?

A
  1. P cells have large central vacuole vs A cells have numerous small vacuoles
  2. (typical) P cells have chloroplasts, none in A cells
  3. centrioles present in A cells but not P cells
  4. cell wall present in P cells but not A cells
