Q

What is the Brain?

A

The centerpiece of the body’s nervous system, an elaborate electrochemical communication network that connects the brain and spinal cord to all sensory organs, muscles, and glands.

Q

What is the Peripheral Nervous System?

A
  • Consists of all the nerves that radiate from the CNS to the rest of the body
  • Control autonomic body functions
  • Control motor movements
  • Digestion
  • Relay sensory information to the central nervous system
Think CNS —> PNS —> Somatic + Autonomic
    Autonomic —? Parasympathetic + Sympathetic

Q

What does the Somatic Nervous System do?

A

Transmit signals to the Central Nervous System
- Responsible for Voluntary Movement
- Transmit Signals for Five Senses

(Part of PNS)

Q

What is the Autonomic Nervous System?

A

Connects the CNS to all of the smooth involuntary muscles and organs.

  • Transmit Signals to Vital Organs
  • RESPONSIBLE FOR NON VOLUNTARY PROCESSES
