What was a Patritian?
They were wealthy and powerful people.
What was a Plebian?
Poorer Romans, people who relied on buying and selling items.
What was a domus?
Patritians lived in a domus . A domus had many rooms such as: a culina, a peristyle (an open space surrounded by a courtyard) and an atrium ( a skylight covered space).
Where did Patritians eat in the evening?
Patricians ate the Cena (the main daily meal) in the triclineum. People reclined on couches around a central table.
Where did Plebians live?
Plebians lived in apartment blocks known as insulae. An insula had 5 or 6 storys. Plebians couldn’t cook in the insula due to the constsnt danger of fire.
Explain Education in Ancient Rome.
The first level of education was ludus, where they learned to read and write. Boys then progressed to the grammaticus , while girls learned at home.
Who was Julius Caesar?
Julius Caesar was a famous Roman general who conquered Spain and Gaul for Rome.
Who were slaves?
Slaves were owned by Patritians or the government. They were purchased and sold at slave markets. 1 in 5 people were enslaved
