What is an emergency?
A situation in which an aircraft and or its occupants or cargo are subject to grave and imminent danger. Emergencies are time critical events requiring prompt, coordinated action by aircrew
What is an unlawful interference?
A situation in which the danger posed is caused by one or more people wishing to sabotage or interfere with the aircraft and/or its occupants or cargo.
What is an abnormal?
A situation that may prevent an aircraft from being operated in the usual manner due to a system failure or other unusual event
What are the types of landings?
Normal landing
Emergency landing
Forced landing
Ditching
What is a normal landing?
A landing in which the aircraft is expected to touch down and come to a stop or taxi clear of the runway without any aircraft damage resulting from the landing
What is an emergency landing?
A landing at an airport in which some malfunction exists which it is known or suspected to result in aircraft damaged on landing
What is a forced landing?
An unavoidable landing of an aircraft on the ground away from an airport or on an unprepared surface
What is a ditching?
The unavoidable landing of an aircraft on the water
What are the two types of evacuation?
Prepared
Unprepared
What is an unprepared evacuation?
Where there is no time to perform the cabin preparation procedures prior to initiating a passenger evacuation
What is a prepared evacuation?
When there is sufficient time to perform the cabin preparation procedures prior to initiating a passenger evacuation
How long does it take to fully prepare an aircraft in an emergency?
15-20 mins
When do aircraft emergencies mainly occur?
Takeoff and landing. Takeoff plus three minutes, landing minus five minutes

Operation of door/exits Location of equipment Drills ABP including disabled passengers Brace position and commands Commands
