Administrative law
- Part of public law
- Determines the laws between people and government departments
Bylaws
Laws created at the municipal level that apply to the city they are in
Civil/Private law
The branch of law that deals with issues between individuals and organizations
Constitutional law
The branch of law that deals with the distribution of power between governments
Contract law
The type of law that outlines rules for individuals and organizations involved in agreements.
Criminal law
A part of public law that determine the consequences for actions that hurt individuals, or break laws.
Distinguishing a case
When a case is unlike another, a judge may distinguish a case meaning they decide that it will be used to set a new precedent.
Domestic law
Laws thaw are in place within a nations boarders
International law
- Agreements that take place normally between nations and governments.
- Not real laws, as they cant be monitored.
Jurisdiction
The authority to enforce laws
Procedural law
A branch of domestic law that outlines how to carry out substantive law
Property law
Laws that outline rights and responsibilities as well as consequences when it comes to private and public property.
Public law
A section of substantive law that outlines actions between citizens and the governments.
Statute law
Laws passed by the government
Substantive law
A part of domestic law that outlines the rights and responsibilities of citizens
Tort law
The branch of law that holds people and organizations for their actions.
