the use of the internet and digital technology to execute all the business processes in the enterprise. Includes e-commerce as well as process for the internal management of the firm and for coordination with suppliers and other business partners

the process of buying and selling goods and services electronically involving transactions using the Internet, network, and other digital technologies
Electronic commerce (e-commerce)
use of the Internet and related technologist to digitally enable government and public sector agencies’ relationship with citizens, business, and other arms of the government

responsible of departments outside the information system group for whom applications are developed

Knowledge management systems (KMS)
specific category of information system providing reports on organizational performance to help middle management monitor and control the business
Management information systems (MIS)
web interface for presenting integrated personalized content from a variety of sources. Also refers to Web site service that provides and initial point of entry of the Web
Portal
highly trained technical specialists who write computer software instructions
Programmers
use of social networking platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, and internal corporate social tools, to engage employees, customers, and suppliers
Social business
information systems that automate the flow of information between a firm and its suppliers in order to optimize the planning, sourcing, manufacturing, and delivery of products and services
Supply chain management (SCM) systems
specialists who translate business problems and requirements into information requirements and systems, acting as liaison between the information system department and the rest of the organization

teams are formal groups whose members collaborate to achieve specific goals
