Chapter 2 Flashcards
Who has priority in a roundabout?
Cars already inside the roundabout go first.
Wait for a clear space before you enter.
What should you do when you’re about to exit a roundabout?
Turn on your right signal before you leave the roundabout.
This helps other drivers know where you’re going.
Is everything we see in clear focus?
No — only 2% of what we see is fully clear.
Your side vision helps you notice things while your center vision helps you recognize and focus on them.
How much of driving depends on your eyes?
90% of the information you need while driving comes from your eyes.
Any eye problem can affect how well you drive in traffic.
Is it safe to overtake near a junction or intersection?
No!
You’re not allowed to overtake just before or while crossing a junction.
Other cars may enter the road suddenly.
Is it okay to overtake on a hill or a bend?
No!
You must not overtake when your view is blocked — like at the top of a hill or on a sharp bend.
You can’t see if another car is coming.
Can you ever overtake when it’s usually not allowed?
Yes!
You can overtake on the right if the vehicle ahead:
Is clearly turning left
Signaled and moved left
You have a clear and safe way to pass
What side of the road should you stop or park on?
Always stop or park on the right-hand side of the road (your driving direction).
Is it okay to stop or park on the pavement?
No, parking on the pavement (sidewalk) is not allowed.
It blocks people from walking and it’s dangerous.
What should you do when parking downhill?
Turn your front wheels towards the curb to prevent your car from rolling downhill if the parking brake fails.
What should you do when parking uphill?
Turn your front wheels away from the curb to stop the car from rolling backward if the brake fails.
What’s the safest way to reverse when turning around?
Always reverse into the smaller (minor) road, not the main one.
