Shays’ Rebellion
opposition to high taxes and stringent economic conditions proved Articles of Confederation were too weak
Articles of Confederation
established the functions of the national government of the United States after it declared independence from Great Britain. Weak central government, it didn’t have an executive official or judicial branch.
The great compromise
proposed a bicameral legislature with proportional representation in the lower house (house of representatives) and equal representation(the senate) of the states in the upper house
House of Representatives
Representatives based on the state’s population. Making and passing federal laws.
Senate
2 Representatives from each state.
Virginia Plan
Large States, larger populations. Strong national government with 3 branches
New jersey Plan
Small states, equal representatives

Three-Fifths Compromise
3 out of every 5 slaves were counted when determining a state’s total population for representation and taxation.
