Burglary
Entering or remaining unlawfully in a building or dwelling; and intent to commit a crime in there.
Crime rate
The number of crimes reported to law enforcement agencies for every 100,000 persons within a population.
Index crimes - part 1
Are 10 serious crimes that occur on a regular basis and are likely to be reported to law enforcement.
Index crime - part 2
Assaults and attempted assaults where no weapon was used or no serious or aggravated injury resulted to the victim.
Uniform crime reports (UCR)
A nationwide, cooperative, statistical effort of more than 18,000 law enforcement agencies voluntarily reporting the data on crimes brought to their attention.
Crime clock
Represents the anual ratio of crime to fixed intervals.
Dark figure of crime
The massive number of crimes not reported to or detected by criminal justice agencies.
Forcible rape
The sexual intercourse of a female forcibly and against her will.
Roberry
The unlawful taking of property from another person through the use of threat or force.
Victimization surveys
Collects data measuring the types and amount of crime involving people age 12 or older.
