Chapter 2 Flashcards
Preactive vs. Interactive learning
Preactive - teacher prepares for class like ppts, makes lecutres, and maybe even media material
Interactive- is more on the spot and may be like group work or like a class disscussion
steps in problem sloving
step 1. Id terms in case scenario that are unfamiliar
step 2 define the problem
step 3: discuss the problems at brainstorming sesh
step 4 review steps 2 and 3
step 5 formulate learning objectives\
step 6:form private study groups
step 7: group shares results of private study
whats the academic apporach
more time spent on theroy than actual practical things waste of time
Social adaptation vs. Social Reconstruction
Social Adaptation- students learn about the current society and what he or she needs to know to maintain the status quo
Social Reconstruction- focuses on what skills kids will need for the future and how to cope with these chanes
Behavioral learning therories
Behaviroal learning Theory- Basically rewarding good behavior with a reward. For example by knowing the right anwser on an exam we are rewarded by our professors and recieved praise if we do good. Unless you go to dominican college
Cognitive learning approach
Experiential Learning approach
Has to do with learning problem sloving, abstract thinking, transfer of knowledge sually start as facts, concepts, prinicpals, problem sloving is the hiearchy of this method
Experiential learning experience- Learning through hands on application
Millers Triangle pg. 29
step 1 knows what (knowledge) 2. knows how (basic concepts) 3. shows how (performance) 4. does (action)
Kolbs postulated learning processes think of the circle pg. 30 starts with concerete
Concrete - experiences with everyday people relies on feeling and not on logic (learner deals with feelings)
Reflective observation- Observes what happens to others during a concrete experience( Watch and listens)
Third is the abstract conceptualization- it invovles logic and reason concepts and generlizations are made (abstract thinking forumlates concepts)
Fourth Active experimentation- that is the actual doing of what you observed and seeing if it was effective or not. (active experimentation)
Behavior objective- ABCD approcah when dealing with objectives
Problem Solving objective-
outcome objective-
Audience- what situtuation is the student to perform
Behaviroal- in what action is the student to engage
Criterion- what is consider acceptable
Degree- Degree of criterion for acceptable performance
Problem Solving Objective- Determine the additional evaluation info you need to provide treatment for the following clinical cases.
Outcome Objective- Demonstrates integrity
Use clinical judgement, Effectively educate others,
Promote health and a good quality of life.
