Chapter 2 Flashcards
Qualitative Movement Analysis
Evaluate strength and weaknesses of players ( what it is )
Obtain final result or rank in competition
For talent identification or team selection
Predict future performance results
Principles Of Qualitative Analysis:
P – Preparation: Understanding what, who and how it needs to be analysed
O – Observation: Looking at the performance of the subject(s), using video/film
E – Evaluation: Decide what the problem is, the cause and how to address it
E – Error Correction: Fixing up the issue
Constraints:
Individual: take into consideration individual’s age, body size and strength
Task: manipulate size of playing equipment and playing area, changing the rules
Environmental: influence of lighting, weather, noise and visuals in a game (indoor vs outdoor)
Direct Based Coaching Approaches:
Coaches make all decisions in relation to:
Task selection
Timing of when the tasks will be performed
How techniques will be refined and implemented
Disadvantages:
Athletes never make decisions for themselves
Lack of opportunity to find solutions
Constraints Based Coaching:
This approach refers to using boundaries or placing restrictions on the learner. Constraints are classified into 3 clear categories:
Individual constraints: Such as technical skills, body size and strength
environment constraints: Such as physical environment [weather, natural light and access to facilities]
task constraints; rules of the sport, equipment available
