What is the initial therapy of treating pericoronitis?

once topical anesthetic is applied to area, it must be debrided, usually by flushing with warm water or chlorhexidine
the pt should be instructed to rest, use warm salt water rinses, and drink fluids to avoid dehydration
antibiotics should be prescribed if the patient has a FEVER
After the initial therapy is performed treating pericoronitis, what happens next?
the pt should return the next day!
at the second visit, the area should be flushed and instrumented if possible
once it is resolved, the pt should be evaluated by the dentist for further treatment: extraction of the third molar, which is often only partially erupted, may be required.
