Scrapings from skin lesions, hair specimens, or nail clipping are sent to a laboratory for culture and microscopic examination after treatment with KOH

A
Use of subfreezing temperature (liquid nitrogen) to destroy tissue.

A
Scrape away skin lesion with a sharp curet (shaped like a spoon or scoop).

A
Tissue is destroyed by burning with an electric spark

Mohs Surgery (!!!)
A
- Thin layers of malignant tissue are removed, and each slice is examined under a microscope (basal and squamous cell)
- Microscopically controlled excision of skin cancers.

A
- Suspicious skin lesions are removed or sampled and examined microscopically by a pathologist
- Punch (rotational cut) and shave (parallel cut) to remove for examination in path lab

- Substances are injected intradermally or applied to the skin, and results are observed.
- Test reaction of body to allergen with skin test (scratch or patch test)
