Principles

A
  • wet fabric (easier dye uptake)
  • dissolve dye in water
  • immerse fabric in dye bath
  • bath is agitated (assist dye uptake)
  • dye solution goes through migration process. The molecules move into the fabric therefore bath looses colour
  • dye molecules go through diffusion by fixation. water temperature is lowered, moderents added
