Q

Explain why does a charge move in uniform circular motion

A

1.Charge moves perpendicular to a magnetic field, electromagnetic force always acts perpendicular to the velocity and the field.
2.By N2L, acceleration will always be perpendicular to the linear velocity, resulting in only a change in direction but not the magnitude of velocity,
3.hence magnetic force provides the centripetal force for charge to undergo circular motion.
Force does no work (dist moved in direction of force is 0), KE & speed remains constant
