A

He issued the Edict of Nantes, sharply lowered the taxes and made the royal officials pay an annual fee to guarantee the right to pass down their position to their heirs. He also tried to make a the country better by building new roads, canals and damages from the civil wars. He was murdered in 1610 by a Catholic zealot.
