John Maynard Keynes
A Cambridge economist who published his general theory of employment, interest, and money. TISB he condemned a view that in a free economy, a government should stimulate the economy to work society out of a depression.
New Economic Policy
An economic policy by the soviet union in the 1920’s. It was introduced by Lenin as a temporary revival of the economy. TISB It was a unique approach to economic recovery & stability in the aftermath of World War I.
Munich Conference
A conference that was attended by the leaders of Germany, Italy, France, and the UK. These countries questioned the integrity of Czechoslovakia. TISB It was a failed attempt to appease Hitler and avoid conflict. It allowed Germany to annex Czechoslovakia.
Decolonization
The process of becoming free of colonial status and achieving statehood. It occurred in most of the worlds colonies in the 1950’s. TISB It created a new world because non-western European states ended a long era of western domination.
Welfare State
A sociopolitical system where the Government assumes primary responsibilities for the social welfare of its citizens. TISB It provided social security, unemployment benefits, and healthcare to Europeans in the early 1940’s.
