Revisionism
Def: The reevaluation and reinterpretation of historical events, ideas, and beliefs. this system updated Marx’s ideas to fix problems at the time. TISB: it allowed people to critically examine industrialization and urbanization and their effects, and apply it to their everyday life.
KulturKampf
Def: “Cultured Struggle”. A series of policies implemented by Otto Von Bismarck in the late 19th century that were driven by religious tensions. TISB: It aimed to reduce the influence of the catholic church in German society and assert state control over religious matters.
Social Darwinism
Def: The application of Darwin’s principle of organic evolution to the social order. It suggested that some groups were more “fit” than others. TISB: It provided a reason for social inequality, racism, and imperialism, and led to the mistreatment and exploitation of certain groups.
White Mans Burden
Def: Named by British poet Rudyard Kipling. The belief that it was the duty of Europeans to bring progress to all non-white societies. TISB: It led to the belief that white men were the superior race and every other race was in need of change.
Triple Entente
Def: An alliance between France, Russia, and Britain. It was formed as a response to the growing power of the triple alliance. TISB: It shaped the geopolitical landscape and ultimately contributed to the outbreak of WWI.
