Diagnostic labeling effects
Marked by excessive apprehension, worry, or fear.
Anxiety disorders
Prolonged, disabling disruptions in emotional state.
Mood disorders (Depressive & Bipolar)
Complex disorder marked by disruptions in cognition, emotion & behavior.
Schizophrenia
Characterized by separation, or dissociation, of conscious awareness from previous thoughts or memories.
Dissociative disorders
A discrete period of intense fear or discomfort, peaking within 10 minutes.
Panic Attack
Frequent & unexpected panic attacks.
Panic disorder
Often comorbid with panic disorder.
Agoraphobia
Long-lasting preoccupation with idea that one has a serious disease, based on misinterpretation of normal body reactions.
Hypochondriasis
Long-lasting preoccupation with body symptoms that have no physical cause.
Somatization disorder
Real physical problems that seem to have no physical cause.
Conversion disorder
Inability to remember important personal information.
Dissociative amnesia
Individual alternates between what appear to be two or more distinct identities or personalities.

Severe depression & severe mania.

Severe depression & hypomania.

Milder depression & hypomania.
Cyclothymia
One possible consequence of mood disorders, including bipolar disorder.
Suicide
