Aesthetics and the Importance of Sensory Knowledge
Aesthetics can be describes as “sensory knowledge and felt meaning in relation to objects and experiences”- more focus on activities that create a focus on felt meanings and develop sensory knowledge.
Focusing less on the individual traits and attributes and more on the social processes involved in leadership is seen as essential, as is greater emphasis on sensory knowledge.
An aesthetic turn in leadership is important for our understanding of leadership in crisis and in relation to creativity where overly complex and logic-based approaches and solutions do not work.

The art of sense-making
Sense-making and meaning-making have been argued to be the essence of leadership. The ability of a leader to distil and translate what is going on inside and outside the organisation to the group they are leading.
Great responsibility to not abuse their ability to influence the group - linked to ethical leadership.
Leaders can draw on different kinds of arts - poetry, music, painting to enhance their communication and sense-making skills.
Methaphors, mythology and storytelling can be used as rhetorical and meaning-making devices by CEO’s.
