What is the James-Lange theory of emotion?
Emotion is the perception of autonomic response.
What are the four aspects of emotion?
Feelings, actions, motivation, and physiological arousal
What is the Cannon-Bard theory of emotion?
Stimulus produces simultaneous autonomic and emotional reactions.
What is the Schacter Cognitive Attribution model?
Emotional state is the result of the interaction between physiological activation and cognitive interpretation of the arousal.
By what age do most children show most of the emotions of adults?
3 years
What emotions do you have at birth?
Distress, contentment, interest, and attention
What emotions do you develop at three months?
Joy, excitement, happiness, sadness, and disgust
What emotions do you develop from 4-8 months?
Anger, surprise, and fearfulness
What emotions do you develop at 18-24 months?
Self-consciousness, self-awareness, embarrassment, empathy, and envy
What is individual response stereotypy?
“Autonomic fingerprint”; individual response pattern present at infancy that appears not to change over lifespan
What is affective aggression?
Reactive aggression; accompanied by threat displays, involves resource competition or social dominance; inhibition of amygdala by cortex
What is predatory aggression?
Proactive aggression; goal-oriented, possible silent stalking; associated with hypothalamic feeding behavior

Cingulate gyrus, mammillary bodies, and hippocampus
